Irrigation service in Madison, MS

Water where the lawn and beds need it, through the hottest months of the year.

Lawn and bed watering

July decides whether a landscape makes it.

A new landscape or a fresh lawn is an investment, and water is what protects it.

Irrigation is on our service list for that reason. Planting and watering belong in the same plan.

Tell us what you have and what it is doing. A dry corner. A soggy bed. A zone that never comes on.

We look at how the yard is being watered and where the coverage falls short.

Then you get a straight answer about what it would take to put it right, and a free quote.

The goal is simple: grass and beds that get what they need without water running down the street.

When it is in season

Checked in spring, working hardest from May through September.

What we look at

Clear scope, so you know what you are getting before we start.

  • CoverageWhich parts of the lawn and beds are getting water, and which are being missed.
  • Lawn zonesTurf wants deep, even watering. We check how the lawn areas are being covered.
  • Bed wateringShrubs and flower beds need less water than turf, delivered at the roots.
  • TimingWhen and how long the system runs. Early morning is kindest to the plants.
  • The new workFresh sod and new plantings need extra water at first. We plan for that.

Local knowledge

Watering by the numbers

Mississippi State University Extension says lawns need about an inch to an inch and a half of water a week.

That figure includes rain. In a wet week the system should run less. In a dry August it carries the load.

Deep, occasional watering beats a light sprinkle every day. It sends roots down where the soil stays cool.

Early morning is the right time to water. Less is lost to heat, and the grass dries before nightfall.

Soil matters here too. Much of the Jackson area sits on heavy clay that drinks slowly and holds on.

On clay, shorter run times with a pause between them soak in better than one long cycle.

Questions

Irrigation, answered.

How much water does a Madison lawn need?

About an inch to an inch and a half a week, rain included. That is the MSU Extension figure.

When should sprinklers run?

Early morning. Less water is lost to heat and wind, and the lawn dries off during the day.

Do new sod and plants need more water?

Yes. Fresh sod and new plantings need frequent watering for the first weeks while roots establish.
