Sod installation in Madison, MS

Bare ground to a finished lawn: prepped, laid tight and ready to water in.

New lawns and repairs

A new lawn in a day, done right underneath.

Sod is the quickest way to turn bare dirt, a thin lawn or a construction scar into grass.

It is one of the services we take bookings for, and it is quoted by the square.

The part nobody sees is the part that decides whether it lives: the ground underneath.

So we clear what is there, loosen and level the soil, then lay each piece tight against the next.

Seams are staggered like brickwork and edges are cut to fit beds, walks and curves.

One of the photos on this site is our crew doing exactly that behind a brick home.

When it is in season

Laid in any month. It roots fastest from spring into early fall, while the grass is growing.

Local knowledge

Sod in a Mississippi summer

Mississippi State University Extension notes that professionals lay sod here in every month of the year.

Warm-season grass roots in fastest while it is actively growing, from spring into early fall.

Fresh sod has almost no roots. For the first week the soil should stay soft underfoot, not soupy.

After that it is watered daily, easing to every other day once two or three weeks have passed.

Once it is established, the same guidance puts a lawn’s need at about an inch of water a week.

The grass matters too. Bermudagrass wants full sun. St. Augustinegrass takes far more shade.

The process

How a sod job runs

  1. Show us the spot

A full lawn, a new build or a few worn patches. Photos help us get started.

  2. Measure and quote

Sod is quoted by the square, after we measure. The quote is free.

  3. Prep the ground

We clear, loosen and level, because sod only roots into soil it touches.

  4. Lay, trim, hand off

Sod goes down tight, edges are cut in, and we walk you through watering.
